Alqo Illustrations

Our Story

It all started with an awkward question

One day, while making dinner, I looked at my dogs' food bag and asked myself: would I eat this?

The answer was a definite no. And if it wasn't good enough for me, why was I giving it to them — the ones I love the most?

From curiosity to obsession

I started researching. I read about canine nutrition, consulted veterinarians, studied nutritional charts and began cooking for my dogs. The results were immediate: more energy, a shinier coat, better digestion.

But I also discovered that preparing balanced food for dogs isn't simple. Every dog has different needs based on their age, weight, breed and health. It's not enough to just give them chicken and rice.

"Alqo" means "dog" in Quechua. We chose this name because we wanted something that reflects our roots and our respect for these life companions.

Alqo was born

Alqo was born from the belief that our dogs deserve real food. No by-products. No mystery meals. No unpronounceable preservatives.

We created a system where every recipe is personalized for your dog's exact needs, cooked with human-grade ingredients and delivered fresh every week to your door in Montréal.

What drives us

🧠

Your dog counts on us. We take that responsibility seriously, every single week.

The explorer spirit

At its core, Alqo was born from the spirit of an explorer. From someone who wasn't satisfied with what existed and decided to find something better. That same spirit drives us every day to improve our recipes, source better ingredients and make sure more dogs eat the way they deserve.

Because if there's one thing explorers and dogs have in common, it's that they're always ready for the next adventure.
